Overview
Sikkens Rubbol AZ Plus is a solvent based, high gloss finish for exterior and interior joinery and suitably primed metals and hard plastics. It protects joinery for upto 5 years and gives excellent opacity and colour retention, looking good for longer. Can be used as part of a system with .

Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.
- Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper.
- Degrease the surface with a lint free cloth and suitable solvent, allow to evaporate fully before applying Sikkens.
- For previously painted or worn wood use a fine sandpaper of 240 grit work in the direction of to abrade the surface the grain remove any loose paint.
- Dust down entire surface.
- Fill any cracks, holes or chips, always use a filler designed for timber.
Application
Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area to ensure colour and adhesion. Colours can vary dependant on surface to be treated.
- Do not apply when there is the risk of rain or when temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C.
- Protect from frost and rain until dry.
- Always ensure product is fully mixed before and during application to ensure consistency in colour and sheen.
- Do not thin adding thinner will reduce opacity, a third coat may be required.
- For best results use a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush.
- The product should be applied in a full flowing coat, laying off in the direction of the grain, using the minimum number of brushstrokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish.
- Avoid over brushing.
- Apply 2 coats.
- Allow 18 hours drying time between coats.
- Second coat must be applied within 48 hours to provide full protection, if not applied within 48 hours light sanding with a medium grade abrasive, to provide a surface “key” will be required, ensure all dust is removed.
- On new wood were possible the first coat should be applied all round prior to fixing.
- Pay special attention to areas of exposed grain, tops and bottoms of doors and undersides of cills.
